The cause and some solutions of environment

As the most powerful creature, human has strong effect on other species on the planet. From ancient times, along with the advancement of human society, significant changings happened all around the world, some species were extinct rapidly, and some adapted to the changing successfully and became thriving. 


However, modern industrial-commercial society which has established by the Industrial Revolution not only affects all kinds of plants and animals, but threatens the whole ecosystem.


Mass production and consumption, the basic feature of the developing mode of industrial-commercial society, is the major cause to lead to serious environmental problems. It damages the natural environment in two aspects, over-exploitation and pollution.

Benefit from the increasing productivity, corporations are producing more and more goods, and using artful and attractive advertisements to make people, those who called consumer today, to believe that they really need these things and buy them. Regarded as raw materials, all kinds of natural resources have been taking into the huge circulatory system of production-consumption, became into goods, packaged and sent to our home. And the Earth is being emptied.

At the same time, large amounts of toxic substances are generated from the process of production and transportation. Mass consumption leads to mass squandering, which results in large numbers of trashes. Most of these harmful things, toxic gas, industrial wastes, sewage and home scraps, has been thrown back into the natural environment directly. Atmosphere, water and soil have been polluting. Ecosystem of the Earth is suffering unheard-of destruction which leads to many existent or potential environmental disasters, such as ozone hole, green-house effect, acid rain, mass extinction of species and so on.


Scientists and environmentalists have been fighting for natural environment in a long time, but now they are no longer being alone. More and more people are beginning to worry about the impact of pollution, and willing to take action to solve the problem. Many governments have established restrict laws and regulations to protect the environments. Companies are improving their technique to reduce the discharge of waste substances. Furthermore, the industry of environmental protection is developing very quickly.


However, compared to the efforts from governments, companies, exports and all kinds of groups, the most essential and effective strength of protecting environment is from every single person. People should know that as the most powerful species in the world, we have responsibility to make the planet better and better, but what we’ve done is reverse, what we’ve done is extremely selfish, what we’ve done is threatening the existence of ourselves now. How blindness and crazy we are! That is our fault. Don’t hurry to blame the incompetent governments and greedy corporations. Admit the fault, and take the responsibility.


Although we’ve just messed up, everything is not too late. We still have opportunity to keep the situation from becoming worse and even turn it to the right direction. Certainly, that cost a great deal with efforts and sacrifice of some existing benefits. We should not only using our votes and money to enforce governments and companies to do the right things, but also trying hard to change our extravagant lifestyles.


THEN WHAT CAN WE DO?

• Refuse to consume unnecessary animal products. Killing just for pleasure is the cruelest thing.

• Say "Bullshit!" whenever you see an advertisement which advocating luxury, fantasy,   fashion and romance. What they are selling is only illusion, just like drug dealers.

• Take bus as more as possible. Not only saving gas, but getting opportunities to meet more people.

• Reduce the budget of clothing and makeup. Your charm ever and never depends on your appearance.

• Use your mobile phone and laptop more than 2 years. More health more happiness, and Steve surely cannot make it.

• Make your home and community more natural. That is better than to travel more than 1000 miles twice a year just for access the nature.

• Grow plants and keep pets. You will know more about other species, and please to live with them.
